Update From Vince Tharp

Ron did arrive on Thursday, one day late but still in time for the Bible Institute (BI).  We started the BI on Thursday evening with approx 28 Pastors and Elders present.  Several times some other men and women would join us.  Friday and Saturday there were 33 Pastors, Elders, and Youth attending.  All sessions were great!  They were sooooo appreciative of our coming and teaching, constantly telling us so.  There were two youth that could speak a little English to help us out but it was Delwin doing the translation all the way.  They were so attentive, taking notes all the way.  Then, today, at the end of the teaching time, we were able to give out the Bibles and Doctrine books.  They really liked that!  We had an hour Q & A time just before we ended and the questions were very deep and thoughtful.  They would then state how great it was that we came to share the Bible with them.  YOU who sent us made a great impact these three days at the BI.  Thank you for sending us!  I believe that some differences were made for the glory of the Lord.  We are just about to start the evening service at the Church that Delwin Pastors with Dan preaching.  Tomorrow´s service will be taught by Pastor Mike!  Thank you for your prayers.  We will also check out the land after church tomorrow.
Dios te bendiga = God bless you.

Update from Travis Thomsen

Our God is so wonderful!  In our first day of minsitery in Tarapoto God has been very faithful.  Even though the mission trip is still one member short (We are hoping Ron Thompson is en route and will be here tomorrow) God is still having great victory.  We had our first opportunity to meet and fellowship with our brothers and sisters at the church in Tarapoto tonight.  They are extremely kind hearted folks and they have been very hospitable to us.  Mike, Dan and I shared our testimonies tonight. It was a great experience and the Peruvian saints seemed to be blessed and very receptive.

One very interesting experience was our sleeping arangements last night. I don´t have time to share all of the details now, but the entire team slept (or more accurately tried to sleep) on the cold hard tile floor in the Lima Airport last night!  Several comical things happened last night while we were trying to sleep on the floor. One thing that made me laugh was the double takes everyone was giving us as they walked by. It is comical to think of our team of Gringos all crashed out in close quarters in the food court of this busy international airport.

Thanks for the prayers family!  Please continue to pray for the team.  Pray for Ron to make it safe and timely tomorrow. We need him here by 4pm in order for us to reach the Bible Institute in Bella Vista on time tomorrow. He is supposed to be here by 1pm tomorrow.  Also, just pray for the Institute in general. We all want to be very sensitive to the LORD´s leading and teach the Truth´s the Peruvian pastors need to hear. Pray for us to be clear and precise in handling His word.  Also pray for Delwin as he translates for the entire team. This is a very exhausting process for him. Pray for an extra measure of strength for him.

God bless you all!

Travis

Wednesday March 3rd

Hello all,

I have not heard from the team today, but we did not set up specific times to contact each other. The assumption is that Mike, Vince, and Travis are now in Tarapoto, Peru. If you read the itinerary below you will notice that today will be focused on getting settled in before their church service tonight. Please continue to pray for Ron's traveling as he was delayed for one day. I will update you as soon as I hear from the team.

Update to Prayer Request

It appears that Ron Thompson will be delayed by one day. As long as it is only one day, his scheduled ministries should not be effected. The whole team still has quite a bit of traveling to do so please keep praying. The flight out of Atlanta was only delayed by 30 min. Praise the Lord! Please keep praying that the team would be 100% leaning on the Lord for strength as they prepare and rest before the events of the week. More updates to come...

Urgent Prayer Request

Our fellow brother in Christ, Ron Thompson had his flight out of Denver cancelled. At this time he will be unable to meet up with our team in Atlanta before heading for Peru tonight at 5pm. There is a chance he will be able to switch airlines and fly to Peru out of Miami and still be able to meet up with the team before flying to Tarapoto. Please pray that God will work things out for Ron to be able to make up the time lost and meet up with the team.
Also, pray for the teams flight out of Atlanta. It is currently snowing there, but right now there flight is still on schedule.
Thank you for lifting these things up to the Lord!

Peru: Day 1

The focus of today will be on travel. You can see by the itinerary below that the team will be doing  a lot of traveling today. Please pray as the Lord leads for the safety of the team and also that this will be a time for them to further prepare spiritually, and mentally for the upcoming days. Consider the request from Vince earlier this week:

"Please pray for the Peru Mission Trip Team as they prepare and leave early Tuesday morning, March 2nd.  Pray for Pastor Mike, Travis, and Vince (also for TBM Exec. Director Ron Thompson and Pastor Dan Slyter) as they travel, as they teach approximately 35 Peruvian pastors, and as they minister in the Church that TBM Missionary Pastor Delwin Fowler and his family is planting in Tarapoto, Peru.  Pray for the Team's wives and children while they are gone."
Continue to reference the itinerary for details on the trip. Keep in mind that it is subject to change as the Lord leads, but I will be sure to update you of the changes as I hear from the team.

God Bless,

Steve Sheridan
